Jessie
Brave JESSIE, was a 10-year old Doberman, owned by John and Tracie. She came to Hip Dog after being diagnosed with "Wobblers' Syndrome" (the common name for Cervical Spondylomyelopathy). Dobermans, Great Danes, and some other large breed dogs are affected by this spinal condition that usually causes the rear legs to wobble and general weakness in the rear. The front legs and muscles may have a gait that is not in rhythm. In severe cases, like Jessie's, all the limbs are affected, and there is borderline paralysis. Jessie received therapy at Hip Dog to stop the disease from getting any worse and to relieve discomfort as much as possible. Long-term hydrotherapy was required to maximize Jessie's function. We find comfort knowing that Jessie is now running free and easy at the Rainbow Bridge.
